Monday 15 June - Organic farmers on tracs

First experiences from CTF and minimal tillage in organic vegetable production

Skiftekær Økologi grows and packs vegetables from 120 ha. A 2.25 m flat bed CTF system with non inversion tillage is being gradually implemented.

The two farms we visit are both partners in the project “Organic farmers on tracks” that is supported by the Danish AgriFish Agency through the GUDP program.

Experimental field at Barritskov. Trials with green manure crops.
Barritskov is an experimental farm where new vegetabelse and varieties are tested. Growing concepts such as CTF and use of green manure crops are investigated as well.

Tuesday 16 June - CTF experiences in and presentation of Wide Span tractor

The Kjeldahl Farm on the Island of Samsø has implemented seasonal 3.2 m controlled traffic with non inversion tillage in 2008. Main crops on the 700 ha are: Potatoes, onions, cabbage, celeriac, vegetable seeds and winter wheat.

A Wide Span tractor developed by ASA-Lift has been tested on the farm. It will be demonstrated.

We will also have a small seminar where CTF experts from the Netherlands and from Tasmania will share their experiences.

Our last visit will be at Birkemosegaard where broccoli, cauliflower and other cabbages are grown. CTF was implemented more than 20 years ago. Before use of GPS. CTF beds were managed by use of physical markers.

The field visits include demonstration of the Garford Robot weeder.
